No More BRACES!!!!
It has been so long since I have updated. I am so thankful that our appointment at Riley last month went so well. Brody no longer has to wear braces at night...or ever for that matter. I look back on our journey with Clubfoot and I am so thankful that Clubfoot is something that can be fixed. I am thankful that in the times it was overwhelming for me with all the casts and doctor appointments I had so many friends and family members who helped me so much. Brody is such a tough little guy and he did so well through it all. God is good all the time. I would to be able to help answer anyone's questions they have about our journey with Clubfoot. Today I got on facebook from my computer and noticed i had some messages in my "other" folder in facebook. There were a couple of people who messaged me from a year or 2 ago asking me for advice i might have for them as they had just found out their baby had clubfoot and I just now saw the messages! I felt so bad I did not see them until today! so for future reference i will try to check my "others" folder once in awhile but feel free to send me an email turnerlk@gmail.com.

Not so great news
Well It has certainly been awhile since my last update. Brody has been in his braces for some time now and is already on his second set. Today we went for a checkup and the doctor thought his heels didn't seem like they were in the proper place so he sent us to radiology for x-rays. The xrays confirmed that his Achilles tendons are too tight how they are. We were told at the beginning that it would be very likely he would have to have surgery to fix this but we were hopeful he wouldn't have to. Next Wednesday we will go in for a consult and will schedule surgery during that time. They will have to put him to sleep for this and it should be a very quick surgery but as a mother it still scares me and breaks my heart he has to go through this. I am thankful for Dan being strong for me. Praying lots for our precious Brody. He is such a happy little baby. Zaiden told me today "Mommy, Don't cry it will be ok. I go get you a kleenex." He has been so sweet to me today. He also told me "I love you sooo much mommy....your hair looks so pretty." Both of my boys are so sweet and precious.

The last Doctor appointment Brody had was Friday September 23. He is now going every 2 weeks instead of every week. The dr. said he was very pleased with his progress. His right foot is pretty much done and now they are just continuing to work on his left foot. They are both in casts still because they need to make sure the right foot stays in the proper place. I asked the dr. if he will still need to have his tendons cut and he said it did not look like he was going to have to have that done. I was very excited about that news and continue to pray his feet will progress so he won't need this.

Well It has been a couple of weeks since I have updated. Brody is doing great! This time we have had the casts on for 2 weeks so today I am working on taking them off. He is actually sleeping as his legs are dangling in the sink. He is such a happy and content baby so I am very thankful for that. He smiles all the time and it warms my heart. I will post pics soon of the latest progress. I find myself not having much time to update the blog these days :-)

Week 4
Well this time went a lot better getting the casts on. He only cried for one of them which is the foot that is not as loose. He did a great job! He was still fussy during the day and evening of casting but what do you expect... The dr. is pleased with his progress but he did say he would most likely have to have his tendons cut as they are still pretty tight. We will see how he continues to progress before that decision is made. We are so thankful at the amazing progress we have seen already.
Oh, I almost forgot to mention our Doctor appointments have been changed to Fridays. It is nice for us because we can enjoy going to some of Dan's soccer games now. He has a lot of soccer games on Tuesday's so it was hard for us to make it to many games when the appointments were on Tuesday's.

Week 3
Well thankfully the Dr. was right about the casts getting easier to remove. This time it took us less than an hour which I was very thankful for. The Dr. appt. went as normal for Brody, lots of screaming during and after but this time he seemed to be more manageable (I could get him to stop crying and he slept better). I am so thankful for my friend Joan that has been going with me to the appointments. This time we actually got to go out to eat after the appointment since Brody was sleeping. It is nice because she is there to support me and also rides in the back with Brody to help him settle down on the way home. I also enjoy the adult interaction and good convo as well! Pictures below are after 2nd set of casts and also the 3rd pair of casts. The Dr. is working on moving the feet out and then will work on moving them up in the next couple of weeks.
